I was a little stuck when I came to do this particular one.
I’m too intellectual
I guess the whole point of art is free flowing and not intellectual, which is why I decided to start my beginners’ art course and do My 11 Days of Zendoodle. A Beginner’s Journey. But this particular Zendoodle I “thought” too much about it, not allowing my right side of my brain to take over.
I prefer curves
I’m actually not overly fond of this one. Maybe it’s the straight lines and sharp edges? As I mentioned in Day 1/11 I much prefer curves and swirls.
I did a unit in environmental psychology in second year uni and I remember that people prefer curves rather than straight sharp lines, it gives a sense of ease and comfort. Although sharp lines can give a sense of being clean and simple, there’s something in curves that makes a person feel more relaxed and uninhibited.
I began drawing lines and then looking at it from a distance to see what I could do in this particular Zendoodle but after I blacked out the parts I wanted to I just had to rub out all the pencil lines. I felt more at ease and relaxed once I began drawing random flowers. The sharp lines agitated and frustrated me for some odd reason. I felt restricted and unnatural.
Although husband and few friends liked today’s Zendoodle.
