I was recently asked why I write. And although I unconsciously I know why I write, I don’t think I have often verbally expressed my reasons for writing. To hear myself telling someone the reasons why I write is somewhat empowering and confirming but that the same time exposing. There is a degree of vulnerability in being a writer, because it’s your thoughts, your ideas, your words, it’s you!
Quite some time has passed since I decided to invest more time in my writing and my reasons for writing has evolved and deepened.
I write :
- to entertain
- to inspire and give insight
- to provoke thought and consideration
- to learn
- to connect
- to create conversations
- to tell stories
- to understand the world, people and life
- for the pure joy of creating something and sharing it
I write because it sets me free!
Do you write? What are your reasons for writing?
