The original Perth Observatory was today’s sketch meet for Urban Sketchers Perth on this brisk and fresh Spring September morning. Constructed in 1896 and was officially opened in 1900 by John Forrest, the first Premier of Western Australia. The observatory is located at Mount Eliza (near our iconic Kings Park) overlooking the city of Perth. It’s primary function was to keep Standard Time for Western Australia and meteorological data collection.
My sketch was done on a prewashed/splattered watercolour paper, with my Pilot fountain pen (with de Atramentis document ink) and later adding a little more watercolour paint to the sketch.
