Happy New Year!!!
It’s the 4th day of the year 2016 and there are some of us who make new year’s resolutions, some of us who don’t and some who make them then fall out of love with them. I tend to be in the latter category. So what’s changed and what’s different for me this year?
Last year was a very challenging year with my elderly father of 91, falling very ill and nearly loosing him twice. Such a massive life changing event so close to home makes us reassess and re-evaluate our own lives, and have an even deeper appreciation of the more smaller things in our lives as well (more of my thoughts on that in another post).
Things have settled and life is back to a new kind of normal.
I’ve come to realise (as we often do and know, but don’t often put into practice) that I just need to do what makes me happy and more often. And in this case it’s my love for sketching, exploring (in all sense of the word; exploring my creativity, the world around me, and my own backyard), and blogging (you may or may not be aware, or even noticed that I haven’t blogged for quite sometime and that’s due to my life circumstances. I’ve only been posting on Facebook and Instagram because that’s all I could muster up at the time). But I do enjoy sharing my thoughts, ideas and stories with you and have missed it very much.
I spent a lot of 2015 doing art workshops, experimenting with different media and techniques, and painting but once home I found that I didn’t really have much enthusiasm pursue those techniques further (although I had the set up in my studio) …and why? because 1. I have to set things up and clean up after, and 2. I just LOVE sketching, especially on location.Using all my senses to fully experience my surroundings and documenting what I see it through my sketches is a real mindful activity. And maybe this is fueled by my strong desire to travel, to experience and explore cultures, to meet new people, to make new friends, and to have adventures.
What’s 2016 all about for Aggie?
This collage says it all …more …..
It’ really that simple for me.
I have a few sketching, blogging and exploring projects planned that I will share with you in the next coming weeks and months. I have renewed focus, renewed energy and renewed direction…..and more importantly renewed enthusiasm and inspiration!
I’ll be connecting with you more this year and I’m super excited about it!!
I look forward to hearing more from you too 🙂
