It’s been a very long while since I’ve been in a painting workshop. But this was a workshop that I just couldn’t miss .
John Turton, well known Australian landscape artist living in the beautiful hinterlands of Queensland but originally a Perth boy, was visiting the artist running a week long workshop at the Atwell Art Gallery (where I began taking my first art class). How could I miss this?
Having spent a whole day on my feet painting (and no time to sketch in class), my friend Sarah took this photo of me getting some artistic advice from John in which I immediately sketched once I got home.
I know the perspective is a bit out but hey, I didn’t care so much, the fact that I got to sketch a well known artist like John Turton and have him in my sketchbook pleased me! 🙂
I went back the next day and asked John to sign my sketch (you can see it in the left hand corner of my sketch)
